Irema was established as a contract manufacturer and one of the first global suppliers of disposable surgical face masks.

1993

Irema Ireland became a world leader in the filtration industry, pioneering the introduction of the first synthetic melt-blown material for HVAC applications

1996

Irema Ireland expanded its air filter material production warehouse to continually produce newer, high quality, fine fibre filter material.

2005

The introduction of the new EN 14683 quality standard for face masks placed Irema products at the forefront of performance and reliability.

2009

The Irema Thailand production plant was opened to meet the global demand in the face mask sector. All masks are manufactured to European quality standards.

2013

High quality fine filtration demand led Irema to develop the Micro 3000, a pleatable polypropylene material.

2015

Increased awareness of air quality and pollution led Irema to develop the Facemate branded FFP2, FFP3 and N95 respirator face masks.

2016

Irema expanded its air filter portfolio to include pleated filter material, pleated panel filters and rigid compact filters.

2020

Irema responded to the global healthcare crisis by moving to a 24×7 working week and invested in additional production lines to provide the extra capacity needed.

2021

Irema complies with MDR (Medical Device Regulation) EU 2017/745 which was introduced in May. All class 1 medical devices sold in Europe must conform to this regulation.
